Oktober is a Finnish production company established in 2004. It has gained a reputation as a creative production house producing quality artistic documentary and fiction films that focus on cutting-edge social issues which evoke both strong feelings and deep thoughts.
Oktober has produced films such as Steam of Life (2010), which was selected as the Finnish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards, Canned Dreams (2012) by Katja Gauriloff, Mother’s Wish (2015) by Joonas Berghäll, Kaisa’s Enchanted Forest (2016) by Katja Gauriloff, Entrepreneur (2018) by Virpi Suutari, Baby Jane (2019) by Katja Gauriloff and The Happiest Man on Earth (2019) by Joonas Berghäll.
Oktober has also co-produced numerous international films, such as The War Show (2016), which was awarded best film at the Venice Days section for the 73rd edition of the Venice Film Festival. Oktober has developed a wide network with both national and international connections through the co-production and distribution of its films. Oktober’s films have been contracted to foreign TV-channels worldwide, including Al Jazeera English, and other channels in France, Germany, Switzerland, Portugal, Ireland, Israel, USA, Australia and Nordic countries. Oktober’s films have also been in theatrical distribution in Japan, Sweden, Poland, Switzerland, Norway, New Zealand, as well as many other countries.
