KATJA GAURILOFF – DIRECTOR

Katja Gauriloff was born in 1972 in Inari. She has studied film directing at Tampere University of Applied Sciences, School of Art and Media between 2000-2004. She has been involved in film making since 1998. Today she is a film director and part-owner of the production company October.

In 2006 Gauriloff received the Seed Grant of the National Geographic All Roads Film Project for her documentary film A Shout Into The Wind (2007) which was also awarded with the State Quality Support for cinema productions in Finland in 2008. The film has been screened at various festivals and it won Grand Prix Award at the International Festival of Ethnological Film in Belgrade in 2008. Gauriloff’s film Canned Dreams was also well received at international film festivals world-wide, and it was awarded with the State Quality Support for cinema productions in Finland as well.
